Lebanon: Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem reaffirmed on Sunday that the group remains committed to ‘resistance’ and would not ‘surrender’ to Israel. He clearly expressed the group’s refusal to disarm.
Qassem was speaking in Beirut at a rally marking the second anniversary of the death of late Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. He said that Hezbollah ‘will only keep moving forward and will not be defeated.’ Various participants who attended the event commemorated the second anniversary of the death of late Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
Naim Qassem also advised all the social groups in Lebanon to remain united and stated that Hezbollah cannot persist without active ‘resistance’.
According to al-Manar TV channel, thousands took part in the rally, which convened in the southern suburbs of Lebanon’s capital city, Beirut.
Earlier, Israel and Hezbollah agreed to a ceasefire on June 19 after the negotiations in Washington. As per the deal, Israeli forces were supposed to evacuate from parts of southern Lebanon, with the Lebanese army assuming responsibility in the area.
However, implementation has stalled as Israeli forces have continued to carry out military attacks on various targets within Lebanon.
